Hello everyone,

I have been looking for an odd looking SMT LED that is in the picture.

It is similar to a gullwing SMT LED, but it has flat tabs and instead of being soldered it looks to be spot welded.
There is no information on it.

Has anyone seen LEDs like this before? If so, where can they be purchased? I have not been able to find them at Mouser, DigiKey, etc.

Hi There
welcome :)
is it a single colour ? what colour ? is it a dual colour ?

the spot welding probably isn't an issue.
what bit of gear is it in ? <---- give us lots more info on that

Hello,

The LED is a single amber/orange color. It is inside of an automotive taillight. The LED in the picture is part of the turn signal.

Are you sure the white tabs are part of the LED. It looks like a Lumiled style LED but I have never seen them with the white tabs before. Can you take a closer in focus picture?

Thanks for the information. Do you have any more information regarding this LED?

The picture I provided above is the LED in a BMW taillight. The circuit board has FubaT and Sitronic on it.

It looks like a standard "piranha" led with a custom lead frame design for automotive use. It has the advantage of extra heat sinking.
