low-cost foam alternative

I'm looking for a low-cost alternative to low-density conductive foam sheets. I
need some 1" thick rigid foam for protecting the pins of LCDs. The displays
aren't static sensitive, so I'm hoping to find something that provides the
mechanical protection without the expense of conductivity. I tried styrofoam,
but that was a little too stiff and messy.

Anyone know a source of low-cost low-density foam sheets? Defective conductive
foam would be perfect. Alternatively, a source of reasonably-priced 1"
conductive foam that doesn't ream me on shipping (to MA) would be appreciated.

What about that green foam found in arts & crafts stores?

Thanks for the idea. I assume your talking about the stuff they use for flower
arranging. I'll check it out, but I suspect it has similar problems to
styrofoam; too stiff and flakes easily.

That is the stuff; you can push your finger into it to some degree,
so it should not be too stiff for your needs - have not seen it flake so
should be a lot better than styrofoam.
