I'm trying to replace m16 halogen lamp socket. I cut out the old socket and some damaged wire. After that I stripped some casing so I could attach it to the new socket but noticed the metal fibers are discolored and are not the same silver color of the other end of the same wire. Is it safe to use this wire or should I replace it entirely too? Also since I'll be attaching to a new socket I'll have to patch with electrical tape. Is this safe?
