Hi all!

I am a beginner hobbyist and would love to make my own USB Thumb Drive. I have researched PIC and AVR microcontrollers and would like to try AVR as I am more familiar with it.

I was just wondering if any of you have seen any guides on using AVR to interface with USB, and/or if you have any guides on a complete solution I can build and tweak.

Thanks all.

Google "AVR USB SD card" you will get the basics down from that point, aka the USB stack and FAT file formatting... From there it's just a matter of swapping out the firmware to whatever storage memory you choose to use...

BTW this is not a cost effective project just for a USB flash drive, fun to tinker with to some degree and it can come in use down the road if you need integrated USB storage... Just don't expect to save any money over what you can purchase already done...

Hi CocaCola,

Thanks, I'll take a detailed look at that this afternoon.

I'm not using this as a replacement for purchasing a USB at all, I was just interested in tinkering with a USB connector and Storage devices for later use in other projects.

Thanks.
