Are all 2N2222 produced generally to this antique spec?

I am thinking, with an R-C circuit, maybe it can be used as a kind of square wave DC generator?

When the capacitor fills up, it blocks the current, which then turns OFF the transistor (which is feeding current to the capacitor).

What do you guys think?

(I need to figure out how to drain the capacitor though in each cycle).

OK maybe not square wave, since the base current will not be binary.

These messages sound like you're talking about something that you think we should already know about.

I am not sure I even know what I am talking about! :-D

I was just thinking, with the R-C circuit, it is a sort of timer, but it doesn't actually oscillate, because it just fills up and then stops. So with a mechanism to trigger the capacitor to discharge at the end of the cycle (I was thinking either the 2N2222 transistor - for the only reason being that I have a few of them on hand - or a relay) then that could reset the capacitor cycle.

I just thought maybe this kind of thing would be familiar to you guys, or you would have some other suggestions about how this might be accomplished, no?

Looks like what I was trying to create is called an Astable Multivibrator Circuit.

And in fact a Flip Flop is the Bistable version.

Good to know. Thanks again Steve.
