I think I'm confuse,or the textbook I'm reading is confusing me.

Jus out this question.
The frequency for periodic time of 40us is ......kHz.
F = 1 / 40us

How do you write 40us

a. 0.0000040
b. 0.000040
c. 0.00040

Which one is the proper one.

The possibly easy way is to think of 40us as 40 x 10^-6 s

so it's

40 x 10^-6 s
4 * 10^-5 s
0.4 * 10^-4 s
0.04 * 10^-3 s
0.004 * 10^-2 s
0.0004 * 10^-1 s
0.00004 * 10^0 s

and because 10^0 = 1

it must be

0.00004 s

It could help if you spaced the numbers in groups of three so

40μs = 0.000 040
40ms = 0.040
