A Boom Mic is classically one that hangs off a boom like they use in the motion picture industry. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the element type. Yours is more than likely an electret mic (condenser) that has an integral JFET in it. They're powered by the device they're plugged into, like a PC.

BTW, I don't get why they call them Condenser Mics. Decades ago we called capacitors condensers but the industry all but dropped that term completely a long time ago.

Ask Plantronics or look on their website, they make the thing. TigerDirect know nothing about it except how much profit they make when they sell it.

An electret mic is a condenser mic with the 48V stored in the electret material and there is a Jfet impedance converter inside that needs to be powered by a few volts at 0.5mA.

Noise cancelling earphone or noise cancelling mic? A noise cancelling mic has poor pickup from the sides and rear. It must be very close to your mouth or your speech will also be cancelled.

Dunno. I looked for specs on that link but saw nearly no tech info.
