the motorola logo and the following marking
top line 98 08 some have 98 11 so I think this is the production code
next line U805 maybe a inhouse number
followed by motorola logo and KA

Is the mounting tab isolated or metal? Was it fixed to a PCB with the tab or
vertical?

These diodes are unused, I was wondering where I could use them as
I have over 50 of them.

Thanks for the replys

These diodes are unused, I was wondering where I could use them as
I have over 50 of them.

They have high current, low(ish) forward voltage, and they're fast, so one
use might be for general protection of DC circuits against reverse
polarity, especially those that might be destroyed before a fuse can blow.
Connect them across the supply terminals, reverse biased, just after the
input fuse. This will make sure the only casualty of reverse connection is
that fuse. Especially useful for stuff plugged to car batteries. They're
meant for better things, but if you already have them...

Someone might come up with a more sensible answer soon.
