NEC Plasma fried PS

A friend has two large Plasma screens with burned out power supplies.
He's a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer at a 24 hour news channel and can

fix any electronic equipment if he has a schematic or can identify the
parts.

These units are NEC PX-42VP4A

Does anyone have a schematic, service manual or insight into where to
get the following part, BLQH, which looks like a surface mount
transistor or insight into what the equivalent parts is?

NEC has been unresponsive to requests for a service manual or
schematic.

Thanks all

Not sure. It could be some sort of voltage limiter or regulator.
You might also need to trace what it connects to, as it might be to do
with start-up of the power supply.

Most manufacturers of this type of product (consumer/commercial) will not
provide service literature to anyone but their authorized servicers. Check
with NEC for the nearest authorized servicer. You MAY be able to talk him or
her into trying to get you a manual, but expect to pay at least $250 for it.
Then, without training and the proper equipment (including the software to
set the unit up), your friend may still not be able to get it going
properly.

Considering the cost of those units, it would might even be a good
investment to pay to have it repaired. Especially when you consider that it
likely contains many parts that won't have any cross to something you can
pick up at the local electronics supply house, and NEC probably won't sell
parts to you, either.

Good luck, no matter which way you go.

I was able to get the service manual for my 42" Samsung from:
http://www.servicemanuals.net/(dzgt03ezuxblzy45chidgd55)/service.aspx
My schem was not on the list. I requested they get it, and received the link
to a pdf file in something like two days!
