Greetings,

I am modifying a piece of gear to put out more power and need to get
hold of a 24vdc open frame power supply. The present design has a
100w power supply, but I am hoping newer designs can double the power
in a similar footprint. I never bought an off the shelf design
before, alway did them myself. So I have no idea what manufacturers
would be good to look at. I see a company called astrodyne in MA.
Any other companies I should look at?

The present power supply is the VLT100 in the link below.

PowerOne and Condor come to mind. Nothing is perfect in the world of
switchers but I had mostly positive experiences with them.

I've always had excellent luck with Lambda:

NOT wicor - unless the kit is in a location that you like to travel to often!

TOKO does some cheap & nasty open frame supplies - if they have to be cheap and
noise is not so important.

I have had good results with following:

Tamura of America (was Taiyo Yuden)
Power One

In my experience, following seem to produce units
having reliability problems and/or tend to not meet
their published specs:

Vicor
Astec
Phihong
Mean Well

Those are the brands that Microdyne was using when I left.

We had problems with all of them. Some never made it through the
first test in engineering.
