What is C5707?

Do you have the specs on what I assume is a capacitor? (but it's not)

If not, can you provide a picture?

Alternatively, google for "benq C5707" and find a bazillion answers (it also told me that this device is a transistor, probably a 2SC5707?)

The web suggests C3303 and C5103, but they may be tricky to get and some suggest that they're not as high spec.

The best thing to do is to use something like digikey's parametric search to look for devices with specs near or better than this.

Alternatively, try futurlec, I believe they ship from the Philippines, so they may have a physical outlet (or at least you can mail order "locally")

I don't know.

As I said, I have had shipments from them which appeared to originate from there, so I speculated that they may have a local presence or offer reasonable shipping.

There are also people selling "kits" to repair these things on ebay. Perhaps one of them has better terms?

Did you try the parametric search to try to fins a similar device? And then try to source that locally?

Another possibility is a 2STD1665. however the case is a little different. (obtained by doing the parametric search thing)

I'm not sure that this would be any easier to get hold of.

edit: I presume you've already checked all of these suppliers which may have the original device in stock?
