Im in need of a K3000F1 Sidac. Its sold by Littlefuse but is no longer availabe in the US. Ive tried DigiKey, and a bunch of other distributors. I only need one for a board repair on an outboard motor stator. Does anyone have one laying around they want to sell. I really dont want to purchase 500 of them from overseas.
I guess they are also used on HID lighting ballasts. But i have no idea who used them and on what product.
Thanks in advance.
Brian.

Yeh, and digikey also does not have a similar sidac either. I presume you've looked up other suppliers for similarly rated devices?

Another user recomend that i take 2 170v sidac's and connect them in series...... Ill have to talk to my electronics wizard about that tomorow. The one i need is a 270-330v They still sell a 240 - 280v. which i may try.

Sidacs are a non-linear device exhibiting negative resistance in part of their operating area. Connecting 2 in series will probably not give you what you want.

You may be able t get away with it if you put some resistors in parallel with each sidac to equalize the voltage, but this will compromise the leakage current which may be an issue.

I just purchased a 240-280V sidac from Digikey. Im thinking it should work. and may give me a 10% loss in power to my coils. but should still be enough to give me the spark i need. If not, im out $10.00. Still cheaper than a $250.00 stator.

I hope this post is permissible

I do not recall if it is permissible to post links to commercial sites.
I am in NO WAY affiliated with these sites..just trying to provide a source for these sidacs.
I trust that the mods will do what needs to be done if I've erred.

That having been said, these distributors in North America say they have the Littelfuse K3000F1 available.

I hope this helps.
