Hi,

I need clarification with my understanding of transformers and amp
requirements. I have a 12V DC fan that i need to cool a light
fixture. The fan is 100mAmp max. The smallest AC to 12V DC
transformer I can find is 300mAmp. Is it ok to use the 300mAmp
transformer with the 100mAmp fan?
Thanks
Nate

Yes; the fan will only use the amount of power that it needs.

Definitely. The fan will draw only what it needs. That 300mA rating is the
maximum amount of current you can draw from the transformer so you could
actually hook up three of those fans to it.
