hey I know this is basic stuff but I need help setting a multi meter I found so I can repair the electrical system on my car. I have a mironta digital multimeter model 22-198u that works and I foud for free, but has no intruction manual. I also have a 94 lumina with a battery drain problem. Does anyone know how to set this old meter to read the 12volt system from the car, or maybe a palce to get a free set of instructions for it. Just for a little info on the meter it has two dials on with settings 20M(omega), 2000,20,2, 200(omega) and another dial with settings ACmA,DCmA, K OHM, ACV, DCV. Any help is greatly apprectiated.

Are you just trying to read the voltage from the battery? If so, set the multimeter to DCV - that means DC Voltage :)

Thanks Ian thats helpful, do you know what I should set the second dial to? That dial reads 20M(Omenga symbol) 2000,20,2, and 200M(omega symbol).

I presume that what you have written as 200M(ohm) is really 200m(ohm)

It it likely that this switch does noting in other than the ohms range. Just in case, set it to 20 :)
