Hi,
I am repairing a old piece of test equipment for the Navy, and we discovered the Q1 transistor is bad. After calling the manufacturer L3- SPD we discovered there is no part number, only specs listed. Can anyone help determine which transistor we could use to make this device operational?

Transistor Q1 is NPN with the following characteristics:

VCE = 30V min

VCB = 60V min

VEB = 5V min

ICB (max) = 0.01uA at 60V

Power = 500mW max

HFE = 50 min at IC = 1mA

TO-18 case

Try the search tool on supplier websites like digikey or mouser where you can enter the characteristics you need.

I have been trying these sites, but it seems to be a tricky one to match up. The rating provided in the past do not seem to translate to modern ratings. US Navy will only allow me to install a exact replacement.

The previous Transistor had the following markings:

FS42841 209
605209-015
HONG KONG

If we can not get there from here, then we will have to bid out to L3-SPD to reverse engineer a replacement device. This is just one way we are trying to save time and money by getting this device working ASAP.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Looks to me as though a 2n2222 TO-18 case would cover it.
