i am going to be making a snorkel for my truck and i want to install a drip T just before a water tight seal in the intake that will sit just before the intake air box. at the bottom of this T i want to have a hose hooked to a pump which is connected to a sensor that will turn it on when water is in the pipe and off when it is not. this pump wont need to be terribly strong but it will need to operate both dry and wet and be able to suck the water out against the suction of the air intake.

any ideas?

Hrmm, why not just use a check valve? ==> Let's water out, won't let water in.

Ebay has some small 12V pumps and float switches, not sure how "waterproof" the pumps are, but you could put the pump in a water tight enclosure with an "in-tube" and an "out-tube".

A small marine bilge pump might work if your pipe is large enough to accommodate it.

That's all I got :)

my issue with a check valve is that when the engine is under water it will not drain out so there for would need to be pumped. i dont know how else to get around that.
