Hi all,

I need a chip XILINX (XC3030-70) or any other equivalent, to repair my
LX200 Telescope's electronic board. I've been looking for such device
and it seems to be discontinued. Any information about this device
will be wellcome.

Thanks,
Carlos Oliveira

This is probably a programmable device (FPGA) so just getting a new
Xilinx chip will not help you if you don't have A) the file to put
into the chip and B) the means to get the file into the chip.

Ran into this looking for replacements for a dying (due to parts shortages)
board at work and had to reply :).

The first reply concerning "A) the file to put into the chip and B) the
means to get the file into the chip" is in error. The programming
information for the chip is located off the chip in either a serial EPROM
(xc17XX - where xx is the size of the EPROM), parallel EPROM (27256 or
some variant) or could be loaded by a processor.

Still looking for a xc3030-70? I have some XC303-50PC84C that may work if
the package is correct. The part I have is faster than the -70 so it
should not be a problem. Digikey (http://www.digikey.com) also carries
the XC3030 in various packages.

Let me know if you are interested. I have six parts laying around
gathering dust.

The part is a programmable device but programming information doesn't
reside on chip - serial EPROM, flash PROM, parallel EPROM or external
processor can load the FPGA.

Digikey carries the XC3030 or XC3030A in various packages. I have six
XC3030-50PC84C (84 pin PLCC) that I will let go of for a very reasonable
price. E-mail me if interested.
