Just hooked up a Technics SL turntable to a Magnavox 500 amp and no sound. Tried it with my Yamaha amp and it worked. Any recco's?

Normally, a turntable requires a pre-amp.
This can easily be achieved by using an audio mixer.
If however, it works with one amp and not another, wouldn’t you suspect that amp?.

Actually do believe it is the Magnavox amp and am looking for any broken connections, bad solders, etc. Hoping someone may have pointers I may be missing.

Selector switches, tone control switches, etc. are common points of failure.

Yeah! recco swavaaa! Magnavox does not play well with others. You need a matching turntable.
If you find a matching turntable
It won't work , you just blew up your phono preamp, Magnavox does that on purpose so you can bring it in for repairs (really for proprietary exclusive functions, options for your LP records) I repaired mountains of them in my teenage years. I alter them for my clients by modifying the phono input to an auxiliary input. You say you got a Yamaha amp I can tell horror stories about certain models.

Any guidance on modifying to aux input?
I just wanted to hit this thread not marry it.
But you may be in luck if as stated above, the selector switch my indeed have failed, if so no harm came to your phono input.
