Any new ideas in protecting electronics from EMP besides layering in
newspaper and aluminum foil?

Or dare I say, using data from 1960?

I'm looking for a way to protect modern electronics from EMP. Thanks
in advance.

"layering" with newspaper and aluminum foil will not work, unless you
use tomorrow's edition of the New York times and Genuine, Certified
Reynolds(TM) brand of aluminum foil.
NOTE: it is an absolute *must* that you have tomorrow's edition -
meaning the edition that is available only the day after today, with no
regard to the fact that it is always today.
NOTE: it is also an absolute *must* that you have fully and complete
certification of the aluminum foil in your possession at all times, and
that the certification be notarized by every notary in the US - else the
foil is no good.

On a more serious note, I do have a tube receiver. Just getting more
and more difficult finding 22 volt batteries...(at least for me it is
anyway).

For the B supply?
Isn't that a bit low, and wasn't 45V more commonly used?
Perhaps you could cobble up something with standard 9V batteries or
from what i see in the Mouser catalog #624 pg 1532, 573-27A (12V, 0.303
dia by 1.10 high) which is the smallest of the two 12V batteries a 9V is
also there).

There you go! You've just found a market for all that used tin plated
steel inside scrap electronics. ;-)
