Hello All,

Been a while since I have posted on this sight.

I have 70's Magnavox console stereo I am repairing for my nephew. I am no expert at electronics but I can scout my way around on some repairs.

My question is I have a shorted output transistor on this unit. It is a NPN #11N4B, The Sam's schematic shows a Sprague #RT-149, a GE #GE-75, a International Rectifier #TR-26, and a Motorola #HEP-247 as replacements. On the NTE website I could not get any hits on any of these part numbers.

I did happen to find on the internet (Talon Electronics) that a HEP-247 will cross to a NTE130.

I have a 2N3055 which also will cross to a NTE130. Can I use the 2N3055?

When it comes to crossing parts if I can't find it in a cross reference book I am lost.

I have attached the three spec sheets.

Thanks MrModify
Sure miss you KrisBlueNZ

Meet (or exceed) the basic specifications for:

Vce
Ic
Ptot
Hfe

and the physical case size/shape/pinout and you'll probably ok with anything that matches.

Go to the larger component sites like Digikey, Farnell, RS Components etc and use their parametric search options to select those 'basic minimums' and get a list of the potential replacements.
