Hi,

I am trying to build a circuit on an existing design that calls for an
op-amp MC34071AP but this op-amp seems hard to find and not sold in
small quantites, at most I only need 4. If anyone knows a good source
for it or can recommend a replacement op-amp with very similar
properties it would be appreciated.

thanks,

Rich.

What's the design ? Is it a secret ?

From TI, TL071

Or substitute MC34081 -82, -84, or TL081

There is the TI TL3472 which is a duplicate design with slight variation
in some of the max ratings, probably more realistic, and available in
small quantities from Mouser.

Oooops! Looks I remembered incorrectly :-(

TL071 is just a poorer spec'd version of TL081 which is the same as
MOTO's MC34081

So I did a boo boo and extrapolated MC34071 to TL071, etc :-(

Where on earth did you get a hare-brained idea like that ?

which is the same as MOTO's MC34081

Motorola were never able to make a decent bifet op-amp to save themselves.

Which is "DEVICE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NEW DESIGN"

What!? Huh? Has ON Semi discontinued all their
JFET opamps? Sheesh, stick with TI.
