try telling us what you are doing --- as it stands, your question makes no sense

In case you are interested in a detailed and comprehensive answer it would be wise to spent a bit more time for explaining your problem.

"Four legs good, two legs bad,"

or maybe:

"Four legs good, two legs better."

Three legs is kinematically stable. Two legs and four legs are not. Find a crystal oscillator package with Power, Ground, and Output "legs" of suitable frequency for "depth measurement" (whatever you mean by that).

We could provide more help if you would actually tell us what you want to DO, without any of your preconceived notions of HOW to do it.

Do you want 'fixed' frequency or variable (programmable)?

How accurate? How stable? What frequency? Overtone or fundamental? Sine or square? Logic level or analogue? Temperature controlled?

We need to know........ (not really, but this is getting a bit pointless now).

actually wht i am trying to do is to measure yhe depth of water, for which i need to generate a transmission signal of 200khz using oscillator.when i go out to buy it i found 2 types
1)2 legs
2)4 legs
i am confused that which one will work better and staable>???

Check the data sheet associate with them - I doubt you will need an accuracy so great as to require 'careful' choice of device - either one will work.

Two lead (not leg) ones are not oscillators, they are crystals, which require additional circuitry to make an oscillator.

Why don't you post links to the web pages where you found 200 kHz oscillators with (1) 2 legs and (2) 4 legs. A part number and name of manufacturer would also help us to recommend something for you.

How do you propose to use a 200 kHz oscillator to determine water depth?
