Don't just throw the cards on the table. Deal them from the top of
the deck, saying aloud, in order, "One, two, three, four, ..." and
so on, up to 11 (Jack), 12 (Queen) and 13(King), then start at one
again. (IOW, count to 13 four times, one per card.)

If any one of the cards' pip value matches the number you're calling
out, you have to give me a penny.

If you get all the way through the deck without any matching numbers,
I'll give you a dollar.

Is this a fair bet? ;-)

But what does this have to do with the OP's failure to
calculate probability correctly?

Since ALL possible arrangements of cards are a "success"
as far as shuffling is concerned, the probaility is
10^68/10^68 or 1, so it's not remarkable at all.

Now if the OP wants to specify an arrangement PRIOR
to shuffling, then the probability would be 1/10^68.

I wonder what Da Gubmint is doing with the waste from the bomb plants?
(other than making bombs out of it, of course.)

I read somewhere that there's 10x as much bomb waste as commercial
reactor waste, in trenches and rusty tanks and stuff, so we have to
find a way to deal with it.

What don't you understand about "look up"?

Why would I need to look up the benefits of regular consumption of oxygen?

I'll volunteer to be the house for that game.

They've been using DU in tank busters and there is a suspicion that this has
had very negative effects on the health of the US armed services.

I was under the impression that the vitrification process has been found
to fail much sooner than expected. but thats only an issue for accessible
storage.

is it really feasible to bung it into a subduction zone?

perhaps feed the containers to whales - at least it'll stop the japanese
from eating them ;)

Vitrify in large cylinders and mount vertically on masts in the desert. At
least we'll know if there's a problem since observation will be simpler and
safer.

I find it kind of ironic that the CO2/Warmingists seem to have a strong
correlation with the Anti-Nuke gang.

Maybe they're reluctant to adopt Nuclear Power, as Japan and France have
done, because of some kind of jingoistic false pride or something.

I say, if the waste is still putting out energy, why not capture that and
use it?

And nuclear plants, like hydroelectric, procuce zero CO2 emissions, albeit
they do dump some waste heat.

The "waste disposal" "problem" is trivial. Put it in a pile in the middle
of Area 51. ;-)

Cheers!

I was the house player for ten million games, and my computer now owes
me the grand total of $9,599,980.14.

If I set my program to have a stake of 4 pence and a win of 1 penny, the
game seems approximately fair.

Here are the results of 10 successive runs of 100,000 games each:
House down $16.22
House down $21.70
House up $29.46
House up $4.66
House down $7.96
House down $3.86
House up $18.26
House down $13.18
House up $13.70
House up $0.32

Still no answer.

Of course there's no answer to the origin of life on Earth. That was
my point. In any situation where there is no answer, you get
permission to think, if you are so inclined.

There is, but very few people seem to want to really know the Truth.
Apparently they'd rather be "right" than happy. )-;

Doesn't work - just changes the shape of the orbit so it comes
around and gets you on the rebound... unless you push *really*
hard.

You don't need to "point" it anywhere - just fire your retrorockets
to bring your [solar] orbital speed to zero, and you'll just fall into
the sun. :)

Well, you'd have to aim the retrorockets right, and get out of Earth
orbit first.

Cheers!

Your statement is unproven conjecture.

There is substantial evidence to support it, if you choose not to
ignore it.
