Hello Richard,
A bit North on Priest is another Amerisuites at Rio Salado Pkwy in Tempe
(along the dry Salt River near the airport) - I've roomed there as low
as $40-60/nt. It's about 6 miles from where you're looking.

That must have been a long, long time ago. I had checked Amerisuites
yesterday. The non-gvt rate was around $150.

I remember paying around $70 for hotel stays in the Phoenix area in the
90's. My impression is that it has roughly doubled. Ok, not as bad as
dentists where the cost seems to inflate 20% each year. Just got a bill
this morning for $800. For one (!) root canal. Ouch. A couple year ago I
had one on a molar on the other side and it was $600. That's almost a
galloping inflation IMHO.

Regards, Joerg

Jim,
You must have an extra bedroom in that shack of yours!
Give a fellow SED a break! I'm sure Joerg will bring the wine.
Harry
PS, it's nicer to let your mate remove the rubber and silicone is usually
only required when your Johnson is too limp for the task at hand. But if you
are having side effects from big blue, that is probably the only way to go.

What's an "ice scraper" ?:)

Just looked at your address. My bad! :)
Seriously, I remembered I have some plastic putty "knives" which will
probably work.

If they're as thin as mine are, they may be too flimsy for this. I was
thinking at least 3/32" thick might be needed.

Regardless, it's worth a try with what you have on hand. Otherwise, a
few dollars at Home Depot will get you a stiff piece of acrylic or
polycarbonate. Might not even need the beveling I mentioned in my
earlier post.

Good luck,

Mark

Only $800? Can I get the address of that dentist? I could get a round
trip, a stay in a motel, a vacation and that root canal for what I have
to pay in Northeast!

You can buy plastic "spreaders" made for "Bondo" and other brands of
automotive body putty at most car parts places.

He is a really good dentist, in Cameron Park near Sacramento. But this
was just the root canal. Through an old crown so now it needs a new one
which will tack on $700 or more. And that's just one tooth. There are 31
others that might go off at a moment's notice, who knows. Usually on a
Saturday (costs extra) or just before a return flight like this one did.

Today I joked with someone at church that I might look into dentists
south of the border. He said that this is exactly what a co-worker of
his had done and he was happy about the results. Interesting concept.

Don't do it.

Our local dentist decided she was competent enough to do root canals
and did one on my wife, instead of sending her to the usual pro with
all the video equipment.

She broke a root :-(

Resulting redo by a pro, opening gum line from side to remove broken
root piece and treat infection... almost $5K.

I debating... sue or just badmouth.

Ouch! Well, I didn't mean for root canals. Our dentist is a very good
allrounder, doesn't send us to specialists. The downside is that it also
means he is more seasoned in years and will retire will retire. What then?

I debating... sue or just badmouth.

At least she should own up to that and contact her insurance. Did you
talk about it with her?

The guy who went to Mexiko had dentures done there, and I believe
crowns. Prices in the US are spiraling so much out of control in
medical. In Europe that's not so extreme but even there people are going
to Hungary to be fixed up.

I haven't tried it with silicone rubber, but I've had good luck
rubbing of other adhesives and encrustations with a plain old
rectangular erasor. (Today seems to be erasor day, for me..)

Not that we have knowledge of any deaths taking place there. Just that it
smelled like death the one time we tried to stop there for late-night
munchies.

Shampoo dispenser was hung on shower wall with silicone rubber.

Shower wall material is Corian.

Any cute tricks to remove the silicone rubber without scratching the
Corian?

Silicone rubber swells and softens from what we call petroleum or lamp oil.

This is not terribly fast, and teh stuff smells, and may damage corian
as well. AFAIK corian is plexiglass-with-filler, and plexiglass isn't
the most resistant polymer there is.

gasoline too, DYM parraffin above? terpentine is a good cleanmer for
uncured silicone,

Deodorised paraffin is available, it's used in fog macines an smells faintly
of candles.

perspex will absorb alcohol (slowly), dunno about paraffin.

I have just received my 'Classic & Sports Car' magazine here in the UK. It
reports on vandals causing 1 million pounds worth of damage to a dentists 6
million pound classic car collection.
I'm in the wrong job.
