I know it doesn't help, but I couldn't find a substitute for that part number.
If it helps, I did see a reference that a Chinese company called NIKOS (Niko Semiconductor) also makes it.
You're probably stuck with trying to track down an exact part number replacement.

This would be my recommended replacement: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/SUD50P04-13L-GE3/SUD50P04-13L-GE3CT-ND/2442164

My concerns are that

  • VGS(max) is lower at +/-20V rather than +/-25.
  • Pulsed current (IDM) is lower at 100A rather than 150A.
  • Avalanche current and energy (IAS and IES) are slightly lower (by about 10%).
  • Total gate charge (Qg) is slightly higher typically 63 vs 57 nC (again, about 10%)
  • ID(on) is substantially lower at -50A vs -150A.
  • Rise and fall times are approximately double
I'm not familiar with the operating parameters in this circuit, but as long as it's not operating in a region where the rise and fall times are significant in determining dissipation, or where the pulsed currents will exceed 50A I wouldn't be too concerned.

There are some slightly better replacements, but digikey does not stock them.

Here is the list that Digikey gave me (you can turn off "in stock" for more hits).

If you contact DigiKey, maybe THEY could do the 'contact the mfgr leg-work', and get a factory evaluation of a suitable substitute.(?)
(Not that *steve* is a slouch at this). Often-times manufacturers KNOW their equivalent replacement for a competitors product.

I'm extremely late on this post, but it could help anyone else looking for this.
The perfect replacement for this component is from Alpha Omega Semiconductors AOD403 . In fact, Toshiba used both in different models, depending on cost. Many schematic revisions specify to replace Nikos mosfets for cost down.
For the quality... I think both are around the same. But Alpha Omega ones are a little bit cheaper.
