Hope this is the right place to post.
I have my telly on an automatic timer. The old fashioned plug in one. So I have it set to off at 10pm and back on at 8am. But...it powers on. So the telly is blaring at 8am in the morning.

I would like to manually put it on with the remote when we arr ready to watch.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks!

The simplest solution is to change your manual plug in timer for a newer plug in remote timer/on/off module plug.
Many variations of this ‘home automation’ plug in style are available. It will mean having two remotes though, one for mains power (timer/on/off) and the original TV remote.

I think the OP is concerned about standby current consumption.
Although, most TVs won’t turn on when connected to a mains supply. They usually go into standby mode awaiting a signal from the TVs remote.
