Anyone seen a pci breakout board? I have a sound card which works fine except for 1 channel i thought a breakout board and power it up then probe for the dead ic(s) then replace the chip...

I could not find anything so i bought the adapter, but a break out would be nice so i don't have to work out the voltages on each pin...

The sound card is upside down when in it's slot, so it's difficult to test with the pc on!

What you want is an extender board. This plugs into your PC and the card plugs into it, raiding it sufficiently that you can work on it.

Now, the problem is, are they available?

They are quite common actually, and are often used by case-modders and those unfortunate saps that have a 'slim-line' or some other super-compact desktop design/layout that does not allow then to use full-size or even half-sized cards.

They are quite cheap. Cheap enough to hack one apart if you need to do some kind of Man-In-the-Middle work with the card.
