Hi everyone. I'm not an engineer so forgive me if I'm making a hash of this. I'm working on a project with my middle school son where we would like a piezo buzzer to sound for a specific period (2-3 seconds) when initially activated a) after the circuit is broken and b) even if the circuit is closed. The buzzer we have is 9mm x 5.5mm connected to a Triple-A battery, and a switch (we're making this). Is there some other component that can be introduced into the mix to achieve the desired result? Thanks a million for your help.

What sort of components are you familiar with?
Google latch or transistor latch, or scr latch, or mosfet latch.
You will see a range of circuits including breadboard examples.

The single AAA battery is quite a low voltage to use as a supply.
For latching an SCR, relay or a couple of transistors are obvious choices. You'll need to put them on some form of board.
Some 555 timers may operate down there. A transistor circuit design is possible. You might find a relay that operates down to the voltage.
