A few weeks ago we had a discussion about the new Philips
EcoBoost incandescent lamp. I sent a message to Philips
about 2 weeks ago and this morning received a response from
the Philips press office. This seems to be public
information, so I am posting the information here.

Philips has confirmed the three assumptions we discussed in
this group.

1) The filament tube does use an IR coating.

2) The voltage of the halogen filament is "about" 12 volts.

3) They use a switching converter to drop the mains voltage
to 12 volts.

I believe12 volts is lower than the optimum voltage for the
power rating of the EcoBoost filament. However, 12 volts is
the voltage used for standard halogen filament tubes, and
use of this voltage helps position the filament relative to
the IR coating.
