"Philips Shape" A-line lamps?

In the '80s and early '90s, Philips sold A-line incandescent lamps with a
unique barrel-shaped envelope. I recall much being made of the shape in
ads, though I don't recall what specific improvements were claimed, if
any. Current-production Philips A-lines are shaped like everyone else's
A-lines...

....anyone know why the change, and when it happened?

I believe that Westinghouse sold these lamps before they were bought
by Philips. The only advantage I know of is that looked different
:)

I thought I had seen these in Home Depot.
