PIC

Im trying to do some programming on a Parallax Propeller SchmartModule but it says i need to solder a PIC i really don't want to wait for this online is there a place like frys or Radioshack that may possibly carry a PIC and would it be called exactly that or is there an even shorter version of the name? couldn't i pull it out of something in the house?
