I was watching the TV (a 12 year old
Sony 27 inch XBR).
The picture briefly scrambled, an unusual noise
was emitted and the picture and audio ceased.
I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes and plugged it
back in. Switched on the TV.
Now, the audio appears as normal, but no picture.
It stays black, not even the on screen program graphics
work.
I took a look down the back (have not removed the
cover yet). The tube filaments look to be lit.
What happened here? Is it a fault in the HT
subsystem?
