In general, car CD players are chock full o' surface mount electrolytic
capacitors. These things do not last for a very long time, especially when
in a super hot car dashboard for long periods. Many problems can be fixed
by examining the circuit boards when you have it apart and looking with
some sort of magnifying glasses, for leaking caps. Remove the cap, clean
and repair the circuit board, and replace the cap with a new one.

This is just general advice though. For the life of me, I cannot understand
why someone would ask for help in a newsgroup for a particular piece of
electronic equipment and withhold the model number of the unit. This makes
it almost impossible for anyone with knowledge of the product to help you
if they could. If you have the model number of whatever it is you want help
with, for God's sakes, post it with your request, rather than waiting for
someone to take an interest and then "requesst" the model number from you.
....phew!

It's been awhile since I've played with one of these. But I've seen
some that have a feature that adjusts the volume of the cd or tuner,
can't remember which, without effecting the other. This feature was
there to keep the volumes even between sources. I can't remember the
name of the control but I'm pretty shure it was with the tone and fader
controlls. If yours has this feature this might just be your fix.
Hope it's that easy for you.

Chance
