I put a CD in slot 1, and it doesnt start. It then go to disc2 and so on. It
write NO DISC. ??Tried to clean the lazer. Can't. First time I see this kind
?? The mechanism is upside down ???
How do u take it apart to clean it ???
Anyone has a service manual for this unit ???
Thanks

Rejean Mathieu:
Because the laser head is "upside down" you must insert the discs
upside down.... label side down / shiny side up.
My feelings are that if you can't figure out how to get to the laser
lens to clean it, it is doubtful that a service manual is going to help
you.
These are nice machines.... if inserting the disc correctly does not
make it work then take it to a repair shop for the proper repair.

If the cable to the pickup is white in color - they had lots of those go bad
and cause your exact problem.

The replacement (improved) part number is PNP1343. Should fix your problem.
A little tricky to replace, not a problem for a tech, but if you haven't
done it before....

As the other replies said, you must place the discs in with the label
side facin DOWN.
A common problem with these units was the plastic lens falling off the
optical pickup. Usually one drop of very carefully placed krazy glue
can fix it. Or you may need to replaced the Laser Assy.
