It must have been confusing having a Denis Nolan and a Dennis Nolan in
the same organisation. ;-)

Hi Denis,
I notice your subject matter says 1957 to 1961.
I guess this means the 4 years T.I.T. Training starting 1957.
I joined up in 1959 and went into Radio, with 12 in the radio group that year.

But alas I don't recognize any of the names on the list. No doubt I worked with
some of them, but it was too many years ago. :)
How many were in the Radio group in 1957?
We had a 40th anniversary bash in 1999.

I think he means the 5 year training course from 1957 to 1961 inclusive.

Sad when you realise all those sort of courses run by PMG/Telecom, SEC,
MMBW, ABC, and a host of others, are now history, as are many of the
organisations themselves.

Ohhpppsss....
Yes 1957 to 1961 is 5. Running out of memory cells to count with.

Well I know that the Victorian intake in 1959 was a good year, with well over
500, basically 15 year olds. Then they didn't get enough, so they scratched
around for some more to fill up the numbers.

Not sure why you say that, every year they had an entrance test and turned
people away.
I believe they often turned a couple of thousand away, despite taking many
hundreds.

(I have no actual figures though, before I'm asked for proof by other people
without any :)

I know what you mean.
I did the test at Melb Uni, and they took in 500 in 1959.

Years later, I worked with 3 others at ATL/Tabcorp, that went through the same
year, and found one of them was enlisted by passing an additional exam some time
after the initial 500 intake.
