Hi! I have a Pioneer SX-727 (1972-1974) thrift store find. Played great at first. Until I turned up the volume to hear it loud. I think I blew something. It played for about a minute then, no sound. It pops in then goes back out.

It plays great at a very low volume. When I turn it up it cuts out and will intermittently play sound, then cut out immediately.

I changed speaker wires, tried both A and B channels, does this on all selections (Phono, Aux, FM).

Thank you

This sounds like a typical power supply issue.
Check the electrolytic capacitors for bulging tops or signs of leakage. Possibly just dried out too.
Also check for dry/cracked solder joints.
