Hi,
I bought a potentiometer (the one at the left in the picture) recently. I found that it has two extra legs (as I indicated by the red arrows) which differs from the potentiometers I normally used (the one at the right in the picture which does not have these two legs).
Can anyone tell me what's the purpose of these two extra legs ?
Thank you very much !

Those two pins appear to be mounting pins. They are used for mounting the potentiometer onto a PCB.

Hello,

From adafruit: Panel Mount Right Angle 10K Linear Potentiometer w/ On-Off Switch
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3395
There you will also see the posted picture.
The resistance value may differ on your potentiometer.

Thanks for all ! Yes, I realized the two extra legs act as ON/OFF switch while the other 3 legs act as the pins for potentiometer.
Thanks a lot to all !
