Power Resistors Value

I got these at work as they were discarding them. I was wondering if they have any real value. They are GE IC9033B4F2 Wirewound, 8.5 ohms. Never used.

They resemble regenerative motor braking resistors around 1-2Kw? Especially as no voltage is shown.
Or could be elements, if that is Nichrome.

They probably would make decent boat anchors too. Negative buoyancy probably.:D

Google brings up that one purpose is grid resistors and one use is in motor speed controllers as in wound rotor motor rpm control on cranes etc, a once very common method.

Dont they look like the heating elements used in hair dryers ?
Yeah, I think I saw Chewbacca using one of those after showering, shortly after escaping from the Death Star in the Millennium Falcon.
