power the LCD board with a computer ATX power???

I have a lcd monitor with bad internal power supply. The power supply
is responsible for 12V to the video board. And then the video board
gives 12V to the inveter.

The voltage on the power board is not very stable, it jumps around
11.56- 12.45V and causes the LCD to shut down and restart every 0.5
second.

Question: Can i use a computer PC ATX power supply 12V to power the
video board and turn on the LCD and verify the condition of video
board ?

Thanks!

You could try hooking the inverter up to the computer psu without any
problems so long you get the polarity correct but more than likely your
problem is with the inverter itself. Inverters seem to be the most common
failure in LCD displays.

You can get a cheap replacement for the original inverter by buying one of
those PC case mod light sets that use 2 CCFL lamps. They are usually about
$15 and a cheap source for an inverter and CCFL lamps.

Sure, but that voltage range you're seeing shouldn't be a problem.
Sounds like there's another fault in the monitor causing the load to
fluctuate.
