Evening forum members, I'm just repairing an amp from the eightes and two power caps have blown. Now the problem i am having is sourcing two replacements the correct size to fit side by side on the board. They are hard up against each other. The ones that have blown are nichicon 8200uf 56V 85deg and they are 25mm dia by 63mm length pin spacing 10mm I have found these 381LX822M063J052 at Digikey but they want a minimum order of 1000. I only want two. Now there are others out there snap in pins at 63v and 80v but they are typically 35mm dia so they off course cannot sit in the board side by side. I'm in the uk and the usual suppliers don't have them. Any ideas please guys where i could get these, anyone have any willing to sell? I guess i could locate the 35mm ones elsewhere in the case on abit of veroboard and wire them in but this is not ideal of course. regards, Andy

You could attach insulated hook-up wires to the capacitors, insulate where the wires attach to the capacitors, and solder the other ends to the circuit board. Then stuff the capacitors where ever you can find space for them. Keep the wires as short as possible, but a few inches should be okay. I've resorted to this many times in the past when I couldn't find physically exact replacements.

Kiss the old amplifier goodbye and bury it.
I took big capacitors from a fairly new amplifier that was dropped (not by me) and broken and put them in my very old amplifier that I almost threw away about 10 years ago.
