I have several beginners' questions regarding using Eagle pcb
program.

(I am working on A pcb board layout design without a schematic.)

When adding a resistor, is it possible to incease the size
between its terminals ?

When placing IC 's does it make any difference if I add the actual
part or just add the package type ?

My pcb is a simple breadboard with metal strips on one side. This
means I have to cut-out the metal strips at various locations
especially when placing components along these strips. Is there
a way to denote cuts in the metal strips ?

No, sorry. The Eagle library named "rcl" contains a whole series of
resistors you can choose from that differ only in the distance
between the terminals. Since you are not using a schematic, I
suppose you may as well just place two pads where ever you like.

In the long run it makes a huge difference if you want to be able to
understand your schematic. Since you are doing a board layout only
at this point, I suppose it doesn't make any difference. You are
missing out on the greater part of the power of a PCB CAD package
like Eagle.

I heard somewhere about a software package intended to help with
"veroboard" type bread boarding layouts. Eagle isn't it. Eagle is
mainly intended for people who will be making custom printed circuit
boards.

I suggest posting your Eagle questions to sci.electronics.cad
