Good Day to All,

My son has an RC car/tank that he loves (thundertraxx) thta does not work any more. UNfortunately the remote has stopped working, and will not even turn on. I have already contacted the manufacturer seeking a wiring diagram or exploded view of the remote innards, but it was not something they could/would provide.

So I find myself here "depending on the kindness of strangers" in an effort to repair my sons tank. I am also seeking to use this tank at a later point to be the chasis and main portion of a battlebot we are going to build this summer.

I am attaching a picture of the remote in question opened up. I am no electrical engineer, but I didnt think any wires should only be attached at one end, like the black one coming off the large circuitboard in the middle of the remote. I have the capability to reattach the wire, but I have no idea where it should connect. If I had to take a guess, it would be to the side of the square grey button in the center.

Yes, I am spending part of my father's day trying to fix my child's toy....

Is there a tab like the one shown in this picture but with some reside of solder left on it?

The black wire is probably the battery negative supply lead that has come away from the battery compartment somewhere.

I think kellys_eye is on the money there. The thickness of the dangling black wire matches the red battery lead. The 90 deg turn of the black cable end suggests it was probably pushed through the little hole in the tab and then badly soldered on the underside of the tab. But it does depend on where that black wire can reach with the pcb in it's home position

After a bit more research I think I am going in the wrong direction. The black wire in question is I believe the antenna for the receiving unit.

I am now turning my attention to the on/off button at the top. There is some coloring on the side that may be corrosion/ damage. IMG_20180617_114450.jpg IMG_20180617_114456.jpg IMG_20180617_114456.jpg
