RC truck battery pack question.

My son has a mid range RC 4x4 powered by a 9.6 v Nicad battery pack. I
picked up a few extra battery packs for him on Ebay. Would I cause any
damage to the truck if I run 2 battery packs in parallel to increase the
life and give it a little more 'uummfff' up the hills ?

Would it be possible that I could burn out the motors by an over current
condition ?

Possible if the motor was stalled, but not very likely. Two packs in
parallel should last a bit longer than twice as long as either pack
alone. However, two packs seldom match voltage precisely, so it is
not a good idea to leave them in parallel when they are in storage or
while being charged. Best to charge them separately, and plug them in
parallel just while being used.
