Recommendations for a battery and dc dc converter powered system

I'm part of a student EV racing team. In my EV I have a regular 12V battery and a 300V - 12V dc dc converter. When the vehicle is first powered on, the 12V battery powers the systems long enough for the 300V supply to take over.

In the past I've connected the output of the dc dc converter to the battery and drawn power for the rest of the vehicle from there. The issue with this of course, is a 12V battery isn't 12V. It's usually 14V and it drops to 11V sometimes. I'm looking for recommendations on how to manage this system. I don't have exact power draw figures yet however I expect peaks in the 20A range and an average of 5 - 7A discharges.

Additionally, does anyone have a way to find off the shelf buck/boost dc dc converters? I'd like to be able to fix the output of my battery at 12V with one.

Thank you
