Repairing tumble dryer: what is this part?

Hi Minder,
I have posted on another forum (more domestic appliance related) and someone has looked at the wiring diagram to confirm there is an internal connection between the wires going to pins 2 & 3. So based on that I hope its the black wires but will have a look in the machine to find out.

I'm not sure, I believe the forum member maybe a service engineer with privileged access to such diagrams. The diagram itself was not shared.

Many countries black is the active so my guess is an active loop off to another device/section

Hi All,
Trying to work out what is wrong with my tumble dryer. This part sits in the vent duct so I think it maybe some sort of thermal cutout device but I have no idea how to test it? It has four pins but only three are used by means of one pink and two black wires:

I know how to test a two pin thermostat but the above part I have no idea about, there seems to be continuity across all pins.

high temp. limit switch?
and ive bypassed one on a dryer i had. just keep the lint trap clean and youre good. worked fine
