On those two photos above . . .can you try duplicates but lets try flash this time and . . .hope.
i just absolutely can't work with the utter darkness down within the components side of the board.

Sir cybertwenties . . . . . . .

Can you visually inspect your board and see if this overlay is correct ?

Particularly, all of the filter capacitor leads, but I think that they are right.

The dark area BELOW YELLOW A filter capacitor still precludes my seeing what it is hiding.
See what component the RED circles are connecting to.

Looks like the INITIAL 3.5VDC supply comes in from the BLUE RECTANGLE,
I see the blue C8 ceramic cap shunting it but what is the power diodes numbering just above it.

The raw 9 V supply starts at the WHITE / RED A at the Schottky pair common cathode and moves left to B for some initial filtering.
From YELLOW cap A, it then drops down to B and gets more filtering from YELLOW cap D and passes to the right to D and then up thru HF filter choke L1 and up to E, pass to the right to F and a final filtering from YELLOW cap E, then it passes up to the pair of 9VDC pins . . . .GG . . . . at the connector.

On this NEW (used) power supply that you want to use . . . .is it sealed, or can it be disassembled for internal inspection ?
(Relevant to getting its 12VDC down to 9VDC.)

Hey Edd,
I visually verified the cap positions.. they are in the same places like u mentioned.
Regarding the diode just above c8 cap: its a SB260 schottky diode.

The power supply i showed u was just a cheap one..
I opened it up and here is a peek inside..:
Let me know if u need any specs of any of the components in here.. Thanks :D

Sir .cybertwenties . . . . . .

Its a miracle ! . . . . . .that you were so readily able to get inside. of that supply case.
USUALLY the case parts have a seam that is ultrasonically sealed together.
I do see that the unit should be adequate for your power needs..
We just need to modify for 9VDC output . . . .down from its 12VDC.
One curve thrown to us, is that T1 . . aka . . .Transistor 1 . . . . and a glass 500 mw zener diode is being used instead of the almost universal incorporation of a "431" programmable reference I.C.

We will need that transistors number as well as a board shot of the foil paths on the other side of the board.
Also get the U2 I.C. ID numbering.

OBSERVATION:
TX1 transformer certainly has a big mismatch between its ferrite core sizing and its bobbin, the core is not loose is it ?

Parts researching . . . . .

On your old power supply, since they won't be used, you need to pull either a D2--D4---or D3 diode to use in the testing of this new supply.

backside.JPG Hey Edd,
The transistor no: bc557
the u2 ic: VIPer22a smps

and here is a pic of the other side of the board:

Sir cybertwenties . . . . . . .

Supplemental info feedback needed from your post # 24 photo.

Example . . . . R8 coding is being BROWN-BLACK-ORANGE for 10K
Neighbor . . . . R5's vertical mounting precludes my seeing its color coding.

What is the part number of the nearby 4 pin optical isolator below them . . . possibly expecting an 817 series.

Above C2 ORANGE electrolytic is a GREY metal film current sensing resistor, confirm if it is
being color coded as GREEN-BLUE-Silver ? -GOLD ? Black

R2 is BROWN ?-GREY-RED GOLD for 1.8K 5% carbon film resistor.
Confirm its neighbor . .R3 . . .as being BROWN-RED-?-?

Got your soldering iron and solder at the ready ?

Hey Edd, Sorry for the late reply..
The vertical R5 resistor is : Orange Orange Black Gold - 33 ohms 5%
and yes, the optical isolator is a : EL817
the current sensing resistor(also named R5) above C2 is: Green Blue Silver Gold Black
R2: brown - grey -red - gold
R3: brown - red - brown - gold

And yeah, ready with the soldering iron
