The Omega symbol (Ω) is used as the SI unit of electrical resistance and large vaules are often written in shorthand using K (for kilo, 1000) and M (for mega, 1000000). For example:

- The second band is the the second digit of the resistance.
- The third band indicates the number of zeros (the multiplier).
- The fourth band is used to shows the tolerance of the resistor (as a percentage).
