I have an old 8mm film projector made November 1961 (Based on a date stamp on an internal bracket. The bulbs are becoming difficult to find, and when they are found, they are prohibitively expensive, $60 for a bulb that will last for 10 hours. I am wanting to set this up to use and LED bulb or panel, but my knowledge of such things are very limited (As in... plug and play LED lighting). The reason for LED is that it can be quite compact.
I do know I will need a transformer, which there is plenty of space in the casing where the motor is to fit one, but I am not sure what sort of bulb I need. I have done some experimenting with the flashlight on my iphone (iphone 5), which works, but needs to be about twice as bright to get a decent picture at the distance needed for a viewing (about 12 feet). The numbers get confusing though, I have no idea what half the numbers mean, and the internet doesn't help too much.
