I would like to use the SAE 5000 I just bought when I play my records.
The owners manual only describes using the unit with a tape recorder.
Is there any way to use this while playing records? How would I hook
up the unit to the receiver in this situation? Thanks.

if it has no phono inputs you will probably have to amplify the signal
before feeding it to the tape input (depends on type of phonograph)

You would have to insert it into the "tape loop" or "equalizer loop"; i.e.
in between the pre-amp and amp stages - as though it _were_ a tape deck.

If it has no phono inputs, you need a phono preamp. This unit will amplify
the low voltage put out by a magnetic phono cartridge, as well as compensate
for the RIAA equalization which was used on all records made in the last 50
years or so. Merely amplifiying the signal, as one poster suggested, will
produce *very* poor results.

You should connect the turntable to the preamp, then plug the preamp into
the auxiliary (or other high level) input...even the CD input, if it has
one. Be sure to connect the ground wire of the tt to the receiver and/or
the preamp, whichever produces the least hum.
