The fm stereo is not working in this Sansui 9090. The signal is received in
mono only. The stereo lamp is good. The VCO of the HA1196 multiplex chip is
set correctly at 76kHz. In addition, the photocell-lamp (the schematic shows
it as a lamp and photo diode but the parts listing says "photocell-lamp")
device located in the noise canceller and multi-path circuit board has an
internal open lamp. I'm not sure if this will repair the multiplex problem
but it wouldn't hurt to try. Does anyone know of a supplier for this part? I
believe there were a few manufacturers that used this type of device back in
the day.

Thanks for your reply.

I remember Zenith using them in their TVs
Theirs were basically inclosed in heat shrink. I would open them up and
replace the lamp then heat shrink again.youll have to experiment with
the bulbs to find one that will work.
